{inspire me}

I've recently been let in on a little secret. The secret is this: I'm not the only one like me. I've always thought I was a little different, a dreamer who doesn't fit in with the crowd, struggling to fit a round peg in a square hole. As it turns out, there are a lot of dreamers like me. Most of us have "real jobs" and lives we live just to make things easier, but in our hearts we really want to be like Maria singing "The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music!"

I attended an inspirational luncheon with other entrepreneurs a few weeks ago and as different people shared about what they "do" for a living, I saw a common theme. We all do a little bit of everything, a little bit of nothing and a whole lot of whatever it is we love and are most inspired to do in the moment. To top it off we all are miraculously paying our bills, providing for our families and actually viewed by others as successful people. Seriously? And I thought I was crazy, and maybe a little lucky.

The truth is most of us, if not all of us, feel we are different than everyone else. The truth is we are. We are all unique, and that's what makes humanity freaking awesome. The other truth is that for people like me, there's actually a rhyme and reason to why highly creative people do all the "crazy" things they do. Turns out the crazy has a big part to play in their success.

Today, be inspired by Gnarls Barkley's song Crazy, and know you're not alone:

I remember when,
I remember, I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place
Even your emotions have an echo in so much space

And when you're out there without care
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
I just knew too much

Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?
Does that make me crazy?

And I hope that you are
Having the time of your life
But think twice
That's my only advice
Come on now, who do you
Who do you, who do you, who do you think you are?
Ha ha ha, bless your soul
You really think you're in control?

Well, I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
I think you're crazy
Just like me

My heroes had the heart
To live their lives out on a limb
And all I remember
Is thinking, I want to be like them

Ever since I was little
Ever since I was little it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

But maybe I'm crazy
Maybe you're crazy
Maybe we're crazy
